On the ferry from Poland to Sweden

I only cycled through Sweden to get to Copenhagen so I didnt have time to explore the country. I landed in Sweden at the ferry port of Trelleborg, then immediately cycled north on lovely roads towards Malmo. Houses were modern and well kept, traffic was courteous, and the people very friendly. Malmo was busy and I attracted a lot of attention in the railway station as I waited for the train to Copenhagen. Cyclists are not allowed on the Oresund Bridge so a train was the only option. The crowded train journey was about 40 minutes. I was in the carriage with the bikes and push chairs, mums and children. I got lots of cuddles and kisses.

On my search for Santa I will cycle through more of Swedem so join up to receive postcards to keep in touch with my location. I am looking forward to lots more Swedish cuddles.

Hi Erik, I am going back to Sweden to take photos and make stories for my next book "Sprout searches for Santa" this summer and also to update my Sweden travel blog. I visited Sweden on my Helsinki to England cycle tour just to get from Poland to Denmark so I wasn't there long enough. Sprout x

Is your travel carbon neutral?

I have made a ‘Promise on Sustainability’ so I am very conscious of the environment. I mainly travel by bicycle and I try not to buy single use plastics. Unfortunately I sometimes have to travel on a ferry or airline to cross a sea, ocean, or a country where I cannot get a visa or dogs aren’t allowed.

Can I meet you on your journey?

If you see me on the road or in a city I am usually pleased to have a selfie with you. I love cuddles and gentle petting. Just shout, “Sprout, Sprout, Travelling Sprout”.

What countries are you travelling to next?

In 2020, I am cycling from Amsterdam to Lapland travelling through Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and Norway. I will be looking for Santa so if you see him, please tell me where you saw him!

In September I am going to cycle tour the Karakorum Highway from Islamabad to the Chinese border and then back to Lahore. I will be flying from Amsterdam to Islamabad with Turkish Air as the flight has a short stop over in Istanbul. This will give me chance to stretch my legs before the 5 hour flight onwards to the Pakistan capital.
