Visted January 2018
In January 2018 I took a ferry from England to Rotterdam, then pedalled to Schipol Airport near Amsterdam. A 5 hour Transavia(cheap European flights) flight later and I was in Marrakech, a vibrant and colourful city. But, as you know, I am not really a city girl. The next day I pedalled east towards the Atlas Mountains, climbing high on the main road, then dropping down to Telouet on a dusty track. The dusty track continued on a steep picturesque downhill to Tazentout where I rejoined the much quieter main road. Interestingly, the kids who normally run out to greet cyclists were put off by me perched in the basket on the front of the bike.
Onwards to Ouarzazate, a developing town, then turning south on a remote track past Taguenzalt and Irhels, to Tazenakht and the edge of the Sahara desert. The dusty track turned to smooth asphalt of the N10. Covered in red dust, I headed continually south to Irhem, then Taroudant, where I headed north back to Marrakech and a flight back to Amsterdam.
Have a look at the You Tube video of my cycle tour through Morocco.

Explore The Shop →I have made a ‘Promise on Sustainability’ so I am very conscious of the environment. I mainly travel by bicycle and I try not to buy single use plastics. Unfortunately I sometimes have to travel on a ferry or airline to cross a sea, ocean, or a country where I cannot get a visa or dogs aren’t allowed.
If you see me on the road or in a city I am usually pleased to have a selfie with you. I love cuddles and gentle petting. Just shout, “Sprout, Sprout, Travelling Sprout”.
In 2020, I am cycling from Amsterdam to Lapland travelling through Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and Norway. I will be looking for Santa so if you see him, please tell me where you saw him!
In September I am going to cycle tour the Karakorum Highway from Islamabad to the Chinese border and then back to Lahore. I will be flying from Amsterdam to Islamabad with Turkish Air as the flight has a short stop over in Istanbul. This will give me chance to stretch my legs before the 5 hour flight onwards to the Pakistan capital.
Go to the shop on this website where a small range of Travelling Sprout toys are available to purchase pre -order only at the moment. What was the weather like when you were cycle touring in Morocco? Wasn't it too hot for you?Replied by Travelling Sprout, 5 years ago Reply
Hi, I was cycle touring in Morocco in February so it was warm in the daytime, but cold at night. I had a warm sleeping bag so kept warm. The weather was perfect. Sprout xxAdd a reply
